2024 Affinity Group Caucuses

NIIC includes a number of Affinity Groups & Caucuses that are hosted by NIIC stakeholder groups. They vary in content and shape year-to-year and are important spaces for relationship building, connection and strategy conversations.

The Asian Law Caucus, NAKASEC, APIAVote, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - AAJC, Asian Texans for Justice, OCA Greater Houston, Woori Juntos, and SAAVETX are excited to co-host this year’s 2024 AANHPI Caucus at the National Immigrant Inclusion Conference (NIIC) in Houston, Texas. The Caucus will take place on Sunday, December 8 from 6-8pm CST, and light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Given the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election, as well as rising anti-immigrant attacks and policies across the United States, it is critical for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander-serving organizations to remain connected and poised for deeper collaboration.

This year’s Caucus will feature speakers addressing key issues and what this political moment means for the immigration landscape, break out discussion on top immigration policy issues, and a closing group discussion to synthesize learnings and identify collective next steps.

Questions we’ll unpack together include:

As a majority immigrant community with significant populations of undocumented and non-citizen community members, how are organizations addressing our constituents’ needs and concerns?
Where are we finding shared solutions and intersectionality with other communities, particularly around immigration?
What lessons, strategies, tools, and tactics can attendees take home to further their work locally and support their communities in anticipation of an assault on immigrant communities by the next administration?
How can a diverse network of organizations build off connections and learnings forged at the NIIC–all year long, and after we leave the conference?

Brunch & Dinner Gatherings at NIIC

We are excited to invite you to the NIIC 2024 Black/African Diaspora Affinity Gatherings—a unique opportunity for African and Black leaders, organizers, and allies to come together, connect, and strengthen our collective vision for the future. These gatherings provide a safe space to share a meal, build relationships, exchange ideas, and strategize for the challenges we face in the years ahead.

Kick off this gathering with a brunch where we’ll come together in community, share stories, and lay the groundwork for the powerful conversations to come. At the brunch, attendees will receive tickets for the dinner event the following evening.

Dinner Gathering (Invitation-Only)

Our dinner gathering will be by, invitation-only event, focusing on networking, collaboration, and celebration of our collective power. Buses will be available to transport members to the dinner.

We look forward to welcoming you to these gatherings, led by a coalition of African and Black-led organizations, as we work together to empower our communities, build on our collective strength.
