Kendra R. Frith

Kendra Frith is an Senior Engagement Officer at Rainbow Railroad, where she leads and supports community activism efforts with queer and trans refugees and asylum seekers. As part of the Communities of Care initiative, Kendra helps form Private Sponsor Groups through the Welcome Corps—a U.S. government program that allows individuals and communities to sponsor refugees directly. Her work focuses on creating sustainable systems of care, ensuring LGBTQI+ newcomers feel at home in cities like Houston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles. Kendra’s relationship with Rainbow Railroad is personal—she is a beneficiary of their life-saving work. After facing severe persecution in Jamaica for her LGBTQ+ work and identity, she escaped to safety with the organization’s support. Now, she uses her lived experience as an asylum seeker to guide others, building welcoming environments for those fleeing violence and discrimination. Through her leadership, Kendra fosters belonging, connection, and hope for newcomers seeking a fresh start in safe, affirming communities.
