Lisa Sherman Luna

Lisa Sherman Luna is the Executive Director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) and its 501(c)(4), TIRRC Votes. Lisa is passionate about building progressive power in Tennessee and the Southeast to achieve our collective vision of a pluralistic multiracial democracy. As the first Latina to lead TIRRC, Lisa helped the organization and its members weather the COVID-19 pandemic, settle into its new headquarters, and grow its staff and programs to lead robust statewide organizing efforts. Lisa also serves on the Executive Committee of the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), the board of the National Immigration Law Center’s (NILC) Immigrant Justice Fund, and steering committee for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM). Prior to joining TIRRC, she worked in the international human rights field in New York, London, and Senegal. Lisa holds a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security, and Development from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London and is fluent in Spanish and English. In 2001, Lisa's family made the difficult decision to move to Nashville from Guatemala which shaped her commitment to fighting for an immigration system where everyone can access safety, opportunity, and belonging.
