Abdirahman Abdi is an immigrant filmmaker with New Immigrant and Refugee Visions. He emigrated as a child refugee from Somalia in 2007 and now lives in the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, MA. Abdi graduated with a degree in media communications and sociology in May 2018 from UMass Boston. He volunteers as a multimedia producer to advance the work of the Boston-based Somali Development Center and the North American Somali Students Union. While working multiple jobs, he’s focused on new documentary shorts with mentoring support from Community Supported Film.
