Bárbara Suárez Galeano
Bárbara Suárez Galeano is based out of Chicago, IL and part of Detention Watch Network’s organizing team where she mainly focuses on coordinating the Communities not Cages campaign. This work aims to support and co-strategize with local fights across the country pushing for either the shutdown of an existing immigrant jail or preventing the expansion of proposed immigrant cage. Bárbara is a student of abolition who believes in the importance of building a unified, cross-sector movement to end the caging of all people, particularly Black and brown folks.
