Amena Elamin
Amena Elamin, Sudanese by way of the Midwest, is a dedicated youth organizer with deep roots in her hometown of Wichita, Kansas. With years of experience in student and community organizing, she firmly believes in the transformative power of youth as the heartbeat of communities and movements. During her time in Wichita, Amena served as the Youth Development Coordinator for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she established the first IRC youth program to support refugee and immigrant students throughout their high school and college journeys. She later became a Community Building Fellow at UNICEF USA in New York City, where she championed national efforts to engage and mobilize young people. Amena holds a B.A. in Psychology from Wichita State University, where she was honored with the Wichita State Phenomenal Woman Award in 2019 for her exceptional leadership and community service. As a Black feminist and passionate youth advocate, Amena now serves as the National Youth Organizer at the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI). She is deeply committed to working alongside youth and her broader community in the pursuit of justice and liberation, always centering and amplifying Blackness in all its forms.
