Warren C. Evans was elected Wayne County Executive in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 after steering the county back from the brink of bankruptcy. As Executive for the 19th largest county in the nation representing approximately 1.7 million people, Evans eliminated budget deficits and has delivered four consecutive surpluses while working to improve services. He has championed diversity and inclusion for Wayne County and its 43 communities. Under his leadership, Wayne County became a Welcoming County in 2018. Additionally, Evans launched the Wayne United initiative to engage the community on diversity and inclusion related issues including the 2020 Census.
